Temporary Substation

San Diego Project Management, PSC (SDPM) as the managing partner of a Joint Venture and as the Designer of Record was responsible for the design-build of a 38KVA-5KVA electric power substation to meet an emergency demand for power for the VA Hospital in San Juan, PR. SDPM designed, built and provided the quality assurance for the construction and commissioning of the substation in less than two month. SDPM coordinated with the local power authority and design and constructed the substation with a used transformer. SDPM provided quality assurance to the design, transformer selection and to the construction of the facility with its partner firm performing the quality control and construction. Given the urgent need for the hospital, the substation was installed on the very tight schedule and construction budget developed by SDPM. By meeting the schedule for the client, SDPM and its team saved the VA Hospital considerable amount of money in claims against the hospital. A design that required special coordination with the jurisdiction having authority over electrical power.
